A Dog Named Sienna

Has it been 6 months since my last post!? And are there still people following this? Google's Blogger says there are so I'll go just go with that.

As some of my blogging friends know, I am still around spouting off with my ill sense of sarcastic humor on Face Book. The results are almost instantaneous and I am a creature of wanting immediate satisfaction.

I have been home from work for 5 days now on my stay-cation and enjoying every bit of it. Friday, me and the Mrs. will be taking Sienna, a dog she has been fostering to her new owners. I do not expect the next few days to be anything short of difficult, and I am sure my wife, and to some extent me, will be sobbing as we hand Sienna to her new family.

Sienna was rescued a few months back by my wife from a kill shelter. She was malnourished, filthy and without manners when my wife brought her home. Today she is still without (some)manners but looks 100% better. My wife has literally put hundreds of hours of love and patience into making this dog adoptable. Purely a labor of love.

Tomorrow Sienna will be given to a 6 year old boy named Connor, his mother and dad. Sienna will be his first dog, a gift of responsibility and companionship. Sienna will thank him with her undying adoration and the occasional peeing on the floor.

No one ever forgets their first dog. Mine was a Schnauzer mix named Fuzzface. I have remembered her from almost forty years ago now. I know that forty years from now Conner will still be remembering his first dog named Sienna, and she'll have a special place in his heart.

They both will have my wife to thank for this, for giving so freely of herself, and breaking off a little piece of her heart to give to a once mangy dog we called Sienna.

I'm Fine, and You?

Dear Fellow Bloggers,

I’m still alive, doing well and have absolutely no excuse why I’ve let my blog go for so long without an update, except that I have been working way too hard.

The treatment center is at full capacity since the holidays ended, this means I alone am responsible for 15 patients with needs of various degrees. I play a never ending game of catch-up all day long before going home for the night. The minute I think I might actually complete one single task, something new and more urgent is added to the mix.

I have a new sponsor too. After carefully considering my options, including not getting one at all, I asked someone who is the total opposite of my last sponsor; an ugly 65 year old, grey grubby beard, Harley rider with 15 years of spiritual sobriety. I think I’ll be alright, unless he wants to kiss me.

I’ve also been connecting with some old friends and new friends on Facebook. I have found that what I had first condemned is now actually a lot of fun (I’m such a loser). The funny thing is I am having the hardest time remembering people’s names that I used to hang out with. Something tells me all the years of drinking and drugging may have damaged my brain cells... You think?

I’ve posted this picture of me that I have on my face book page. It was taken a couple of years ago after I got my braces off. I hope you like it. If you’re ever on Facebook and see this picture, please feel free to add me as one of your friends. I promise you won’t be sorry.

Warmest Regards

~AR

You may want to kiss your husbands and tell them you love them cause I’m back in town baby.

I'm Crushing Your Head

I refuse to own anything that isn’t mine.
If you have issues, they are yours to do with what you wish.

Keep them
Own them
Stew in them
Drown in them

You are lucky I'm not using your name like you used mine.

And NO, this is not meant for LR.
